EMPORIUM; from Ancient Greek “empórion” (trading station), “émporos” (traveller), and “póros” (journey)

The journey so far...

Born in Germany to an architect father and mother in the fashion business, Juliane Bailey’s love for eclectic design began at an early age. Following a degree in Fashion Journalism at Hamburg's Akademie Mode & Design she spent the early years of her career working in Sicily, Venice and New York. On returning to her hometown of Hamburg, she founded "battesimo", a successful childrens furniture and clothes boutique. Juliane then spent several years living in the English countryside renovating the family's country home and taking care of her two children. In 2017, Juliane and her family moved to Singapore to a small colonial "Black and White" house immersed in the jungle which they now call home.

Inspired by her travels and new tropical surroundings paired with a passion for beautiful fashion and interiors, the idea for the 'The Jungle Emporium' was born and was launched in July 2020. The online boutique offers a curated selection of exclusive goods, sustainably and ethically produced in South East Asia and beyond.

The Jungle Emporium works with small, mostly family owned producers that work in a socially responsible manner using traditional methods and materials. Our products are not mass produced and are made by hand, often in limited quantities. We are proud to have visited the vast majority of our suppliers producing the items we have for sale.

Artisans of The Jungle Emporium

The Jungle Emporium supports the preservation of wildlife and a percentage of all sales are donated to the ACRES Wildlife Rescue Centre (AWRC),  Singapore’s first facility dedicated to the rescue and rehabilitation of animals rescued from the illegal wildlife trade and injured native wild animals.
