Antique Floral Blakeney Ironstone Clam Shell Bowl

$140

A stunning vintage Blakeney Staffordshire Ironstone shell bowl with blue floral pattern, dating back to 1890-1900. Ironstone is a type of earthenware known for its durability and resemblance to porcelain.

Blue and white ceramics, have a rich history dating back to the late 18th century. Produced in the Staffordshire region of England, these ceramics became immensely popular for their affordability and decorative appeal, often mimicking more expensive Chinese porcelain. The "Flow Blue" style emerged in the mid-19th century, characterised by the intentional blurring of the blue underglaze during firing, creating a distinctive, soft, and sometimes ethereal effect. It is in very good vintage condition with no visible flaws. It's beautiful as catch all, as a fruit bowl or just on it's own as a very decorative piece.
