Traditional miniature paintings were crafted by master artists in royal courts across northern India, particularly in regions like Rajasthan and the Mughal centers. They were created to document imperial processions, historical events, and royal portraits for rulers and nobility. Artisans ground natural minerals, semi-precious stones, and gold leaf to produce vivid pigments applied with extremely fine squirrel-hair brushes onto prepared silk.
