Vintage Kantha ~ monochrome green & pink

These incredible vintage Kanthas are made by hand out of discarded fabrics and old Saris. They originate from the Bengal region of South East Asia from 1945. In order to reach the colourful patterns, the fabrics have been layered and then stitched together with a simple running stitch by hand. That makes each piece in its pattern and size totally unique. All of these Kanthas were made by the same family - so similar shades of pink and green fabrics have been used to create these stunning pieces. This one has a geometric pattern, which makes it especially unique. 

Use them as a table cover for a side table, decorated over a sofa or armchair, as a bedcover or wall hanging - the possibilities are endless. Please note that this is a vintage item - expect repairs and ‘imperfections’, which are not considered as faults and show the beauty of this much loved piece of fabric.
